Opening Ceremony of the Second Regional Training for Young Diplomats and Civil Servants of Central Asian Countries
On March 9, 2026, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted the opening ceremony of the Second Regional Training for Young Diplomats and Civil Servants of Central Asian Countries. The event was organized by the Government of Turkmenistan with the support of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, as well as the Embassies of Italy and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The ceremony was attended by the leadership and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, heads and staff of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, young diplomats and civil servants from Central Asian countries, as well as the faculty and students of the Institute of International Relations.
Participants emphasized that the training is aimed at strengthening interaction between young diplomats and civil servants of Central Asian states, facilitating the exchange of experience and knowledge, consolidating diplomatic efforts to address pressing regional issues.
Speaking at the opening of the seminar, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, M.Byashimova, highlighted that Turkmenistan actively participates in multilateral UN initiatives aimed at promoting the Sustainable Development Goals, expanding humanitarian cooperation, developing transport connectivity, and strengthening the international legal order.
In this context, the current training serves as an important educational platform where participants can deepen their knowledge of the UN institutional structure and global decision-making mechanisms. One of the key objectives of the training is to further strengthen regional cooperation among Central Asian states, which has gained significant momentum in recent years.
Special attention during the ceremony was paid to the Central Asian Youth Dialogue, initiated by Turkmenistan, which has already proven its effectiveness. It was noted that the next meeting within this Dialogue will be held on the sidelines of the current training, further strengthening the bonds of friendship and partnership among the region’s young leaders.
