On 9 March 2026, the regular meeting of the Subcommittee on Humanitarian Cooperation of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee was held in Beijing. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan, Co-Chairman of the Subcommittee from the Turkmen side, Gurbanmyrat Myradaliyev, and Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, Co-Chairman from the Chinese side, Gao Zheng.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on the current agenda and prospects for expanding cooperation in the cultural, humanitarian and educational spheres. It was noted that important bilateral events held in recent years have given additional impetus to the development of Turkmen-Chinese partnership in the fields of education, culture, archaeology and tourism.

The sides emphasized that in order to further strengthen cooperation and deepen the alignment of the development strategy “Revival of the Great Silk Road” with the “Belt and Road Initiative,” an important direction is the expansion of contacts and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries. Scientific and educational projects, as well as cooperation in the fields of tourism and high technologies, remain priority areas of interaction.

It was also noted that fruitful cooperation in the humanitarian sphere is developing within the framework of multilateral diplomacy, primarily within the “Central Asia – China” format.

Following the meeting, in order to strengthen the legal and contractual framework, the Protocol of the 9th meeting of the Subcommittee on Humanitarian Cooperation of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee was signed.
