Meeting between the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Chinar Rustemovna and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture of Romania Ms. Diana Bacuna.
On March 25, 2025, a meeting was held in the building of the Ministry of Culture of Romania between the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Chinar Rustemovna and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture of Romania Ms. Diana Bacuna.
The purpose of this meeting was to get acquainted and discuss issues related to the future joint events in the field of culture.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Romanian side congratulated on the successful event in honor of the Turkmen carpet, in which it took part and made a speech, and also emphasized that this event provided an excellent opportunity to popularize the national heritage, familiarize the general public with the achievements of Turkmenistan, as well as to build cultural bridges between our countries.
Ch. Rustemova emphasized the desire and interest of the Turkmen side in cooperation with the Romanian side in the field of culture and cultural exchange, as well as in establishing a long-term partnership with Romanian museums.
In this context, the State Secretary noted the readiness to consider proposals from the Turkmen side to hold joint events and projects, since in order to implement possible proposals for events, the Romanian side needs to discuss in advance the dates, forms, scale and other organizational issues.
It was informed that cooperation with UNESCO occupies an important place in the cultural and humanitarian cooperation of Turkmenistan. Ancient Merv, monuments of Kunyaurgench, the ancient fortress of Nisa are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The following are included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity: the epic "Geroghly", the Turkmen national art of song and dance "Kushtdepdi", traditional carpet weaving of Turkmenistan and the multinational nomination "Novruz Bayram" is included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The parties agreed that cultural diplomacy is an integral part of the dynamically developing Turkmen-Romanian relations.
