President of Turkmenistan received Vice President and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation
On August 5, 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Ignazio Cassis, Vice President of the Swiss Confederation – which currently holds the chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
Expressing his sincere gratitude for the hospitality shown, the Swiss Vice President and foreign policy chief emphasized the OSCE's immense interest in expanding constructive cooperation with Turkmenistan, a nation actively pursuing policies aimed at ensuring global peace and sustainable development.
Thanking the guest for his kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the current visit to our country is viewed as an important milestone in developing relations between Turkmenistan, the OSCE, and the Swiss Confederation.
Highlighting the active and constructive dynamic of interaction between Turkmenistan and the OSCE, the Head of State emphasized the regular nature of measures implemented through cooperation programs, which are developed annually by the Government of Turkmenistan together with the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat.
At the same time, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov underscored the national importance placed on ensuring human rights and democratic principles in Turkmenistan. He stated the practicality of further partnership within the OSCE framework to continue this work and study global best practices in this field.
“We possess favorable prerequisites for expanding cooperation in such areas of activity as ensuring safe and reliable supplies of energy resources to world markets, creating conditions for sustainable economic growth, fully utilizing potential in the transport sector, protecting the environment, and rationally managing water resources,” President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said. Speaking on this, the Head of State reaffirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to expand interaction with the OSCE to further ensure peace and sustainable development on the planet.
Continuing, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the current productive nature of relations between Turkmenistan and the Swiss Confederation. He emphasized our country's interest in the consistent development of bilateral cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. In this context, Turkmenistan’s readiness to consider specific proposals from the Swiss side was expressed. Taking this opportunity, the Head of State once again congratulated Ignazio Cassis and the Swiss people on the recently celebrated Swiss National Day.
Expressing his sincere gratitude for the congratulations, the guest highlighted the exemplary nature of Turkmenistan's foreign policy for the entire world, and reaffirmed the immense importance Switzerland attaches to the consistent development of interstate cooperation.
