DELEGATION OF TURKMENISTAN TO THE OSCE MADE A STATEMENT ON “PRIORITIES OF TURKMENISTAN IN THE FIELDS OF ECONOMY AND ENVIRONMENT”

On January 26, 2022 the delegation of Turkmenistan made a statement on "Priorities of Turkmenistan in the field of economy and environment" at the meeting of the OSCE Economic and Environment Committee.

The statement notes that good economic governance, promoting connectivity through transport and facilitating trade, as well as energy security are priority areas for Turkmenistan in cooperation with the OSCE on economic and environmental activities. In this regard, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan supports the development of dialogue and cooperation in the field of energy security, paying special attention to the protection of energy networks, the promotion of renewable and sustainable energy sources and energy efficiency.

In addition, Turkmenistan also prioritizes practical cooperation with the OSCE in promoting green ports and connectivity, as well as economic empowerment of women in the energy sector. In this regard, the delegation of Turkmenistan mentioned that in recent years the port of Turkmenbashi has participated both in a study to assess the readiness of ports for digital connectivity and in online meetings of the project working group.

The participants of the meeting were also informed that energy security, sustainable transport and water management remain among the priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, which are important components of sustainable development. The delegation of Turkmenistan mentioned several initiatives on the energy security of Turkmenistan, which is put forward within the framework of the UN and other international organizations, including the OSCE. Turkmenistan is consistently increasing its transport capabilities by initiating large-scale international and regional transport and communication projects.
