THE MINISTERS OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKMENISTAN AND THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES DISCUSSED THE ISSUES OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF BILATERAL RELATIONS

On April 29, 2022, within the framework of the visit of the delegation of Turkmenistan to Abu Dhabi, a meeting was held between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

After exchanging warm greetings and noting the high dynamics of the development of bilateral relations, the ministers proceeded to discuss a number of key issues in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian fields. The high level of confidential dialogue between the top leadership of the two countries was emphasized. It was also emphasized that high-level contacts are of paramount importance in the further promotion of interstate relations.

The ministers reaffirmed the importance of cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries. Particular emphasis was placed on interaction within the framework of international organizations, including the UN, OIC and others, and the importance of mutual support for international undertakings and initiatives in these structures.

Speaking about the challenges and threats of our time, the parties noted the importance of strengthening international cooperation in the fight against the global pandemic.

Trade and economic relations between the two countries were discussed in detail. A constructive exchange of views took place regarding the further implementation of previously signed documents and agreements reached. The parties spoke in favor of maintaining the active work of the Joint Committee on Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates.
