Meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Turkmenistan

On 28 August 2026, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with  the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Turkmenistan Philippe Merlin.

The Ambassador of France, who is concluding his diplomatic mission in Ashgabat, expressed his gratitude to the Turkmen side for warm hospitality.

During the meeting, the parties emphasized the steady development of Turkmen-French relations in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

It was particularly noted that contacts at high and the highest levels are the key factor in the development of inter-state relations.

The trade and economic cooperation, which is one of the main pillars of the bilateral partnership, particularly in the fields of agriculture, water management and green technologies was discussed at the meeting. 

The parties highlighted the effectiveness of the long-term cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
