PASSPORTS WERE PRESENTED TO PERSONS WHO WERE GRANTED TURKMEN CITIZENSHIP

As is known, on September 24, 2018 at an enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the President of Turkmenistan signed a decree on the granting of 735 citizenship of Turkmenistan.

On October 1 of this year, the State Migration Service held a solemn ceremony of handing over passports to individuals who received Turkmen citizenship. The event was attended by representatives of ministries and departments of the country, international organizations, honorary elders, cadets of military universities and the media.

Migration is today one of the serious challenges of globalization processes. In this area, Turkmenistan has a positive practice of legislative regulation and a strong will in providing social protection and equal opportunities to migrants, which is based both on universally accepted principles of human rights and on highly humane traditions inherent in the Turkmen people and which are adequately embodied in the migration strategy of the head of state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

In recent years, our peaceful country has become a second home for many people. As a concrete example, one can cite the fact that from 2011 to 2017, according to the Decrees of the leader of the nation, 8,145 people were accepted for citizenship of Turkmenistan.

The commitment of Turkmenistan to everlasting humanistic values and generally accepted international standards for the protection of human rights and freedoms is evidenced by the fact that, according to the Decree, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Migration Service, along with other relevant ministries and sectoral departments, are instructed to continue execution of documents to stateless persons of our country, followed by the submission of relevant proposals to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
